About

Hello and welcome.

About me

I’m Shailoo. I am an immigrant from India who arrived in Victoria (on the traditional Lekwungen territories) in 1973, and I am deeply grateful to have spent most of my life in this beautiful city and space.

I have spent over 25 years in formal leadership positions in higher education, while raising a family and completing a PhD in Education in my 40s. During this time, I led diverse teams ranging in size from 7 to over 90 staff, across both unionized and non-union environments. I am a published author with 2 books through McGill-Queens University Press and Facet Publishing UK. As well as 30+ peer reviewed articles.

In addition to my leadership and coaching practice, I bring consulting expertise in strategic planning, training and development, research and analysis, and organizational development. I have worked with academic institutions and organizations to build stronger strategies, support leadership capacity, and foster healthier, more collaborative workplace cultures.

An insight that has guided me throughout life and work is that we are often called to navigate the variables that life presents. “Navigating the variables” means recognizing that life’s journey is rarely a straight path. The unexpected will emerge, and the question becomes: what is this variable asking of me?

Navigating the variables

The terrain of life is subject to change

Doesn't have a fixed pattern

Liable to change and adaptation

Adaptation can come from within

We can be the positive variable
